147: Caffeine break on 12 hour day

Discovered I had left my notes at home for this talk so reconstructed it from the hand outs over coffee with my pink pen. :^) Turned out to be the best break. Need to always schedule those. That's the Starbucks line there, in the convention center. Homeschoolers love the Bux, apparently. There was a constant line for the entire three days!

134: Yummy Dinner Downtown

We loved downtown Greenville. Had dinner at this wonderful restaurant and it was warm enough to eat outside. Beth took this photo too. After dinner we walked over the suspension bridge, shopped in artsy stores, drank coffee in a basement coffee house and then listened to live music at a bar (and were well entertained by the dancers!).

A great end to a fun convention! 

133: Blank Page, Blank Stare?

A moment of quiet browsing during what was otherwise a very busy convention. (See the cute tower of curricula with the pinata on top? That tower shrunk as he sold. Kids loved the colors!)

132: Shoppers

I love this photo. Beth gets photo credits (I hardly had time to think of photography, let alone take pictures). That's the "La Clase Divertida" booth behind her which was so colorful (as you'll see in another of our photos).

131: Greenville Convention Staff

Beth and Barb met for the first time at Stax Grill where we had dinner on Wednesday night before the convention begins.

119: BB King's

Beale Street from the top end, at night! That's Debbie walking toward our nightlife: BB King's. We had the best time eating pulled pork, sweet potato puffs with caramel and I had chili! Great music: a 17 year old prodigy first, playing rockabilly, followed by a full band with horn section of blues, MJ, and jazz. Everyone danced, including one fabulous older gentleman, missing a few teeth, but corralled by two young 20-something hotties. Black, white, young, old—everyone danced together. Debbie and I were fast friends with some boys from Baylor, a grouping of attractive 20 somethings and a white truck driver en route from NJ to Armadillo. It was an incredibly satisfying end to a wonderful convention weekend.

Photo notes: We had to wait for the BB King's to "light all the way up" because it kept losing and adding letters. I'm so pleased that when I "got it," the "Memphis Music" sign was framed properly underneath. Thought I had missed it. Fun city!

118: Great Homeschool Convention in Memphis

Hard to find time to take photos in between workshops and sales. This one is of the eating area, with the Memphis tower and lit up "M" bridge in the background.

117: Beale Street

Think Bourbon St. for the blues. Seriously amazing place. Debbie and I have a date with a club, a cocktail, Bar-be-que and live music for Saturday night. Made it hard to go to a convention hall after an afternoon down here. (Will post more photos to facebook in an album as soon as I can.)

116: Tender Tennessee Springtime

The eight hour drive was pure sunshiny pleasure with green green grass, blue skies and a gentle sunset. This lovely tree stood across the street from the 66 gas station (where I paid $50.00 for a tank of gas—ouch!). Memphis photos coming. What a cool place! Loving it already.

115: Traveling office

Multiple trips to Office Depot, even as night fell. Trunk is open to load more convention supplies. I love the way electric lights look at night and the way overhead lights create outlines and reflections of a different kind than the sun.

There is a certain Darth Vadar-esque look to that open trunk that looks like a hood, isn't there?

112: Convention clothes

109: Magnetic personalities

These name tags use magnets instead of pins to affix themselves to satin or rayon tops for speaking. At least while at the conventions, I will know "my name." That is not the case in the rest of my daily life.

108: Meet the new help

who is entirely awesome! Debbie-to-the-rescue! We're learning how to use the "knuckle breaker" (aka, old fashioned credit card slider) in preparation for my first convention (we leave for Memphis a week from tomorrow!).

59: Customer Service

at the high powered, international business hub: Brave Writer. Can that phone handle it? Can the personnel? 2011 is the year we find out.

I haven't been able to get off the phone for two weeks. Customers and business associates calling all day long, and into the night.
