Now that's college...

World Music (3), originally uploaded by juliecinci.

Noah is taking a World Performance Music class for one credit. We were invited to his performance yesterday. They played "thumb pianos" and "tamtars." I loved this photo because it gives you a sense of the immensity of the hall in which they performed. Shouldn't everyone have to take a "World Music" or "Dance of Bali" class (that's what I took) in college?

Here are two more shots (Noah is far right):

I don't think everyone should *have* to take a course like that, but I would say that people should take such courses. Of course, I never did. I wish I'd spent another couple years as an undergrad and taken a lot more classes like that.

Oh well, of course the use of "should" in that sentence was meant to be whimsical, not imperative. Hmmm. A deconstruction of my meaning.

Yes, agreed. Fun to take these and how wonderful that the opportunity exists. That's what I meant by it. :)

Everyone should have to take a class like that! Where I went to college there was steel drumming, not that I took it though...

Great shot. It conveys a sense of the hugeness of the space and a sense of reverence for the cultures.
