In winter, we light a fire, make hot tea and read poetry and read alouds every week (confession: nearly every day). Summer has been so hectic, we've been out of our reading routine. Yesterday, that was corrected when Liam and Caitrin asked me to make banana bread to go with our suntea. I gave Caitrin a new book of poetry yesterday. Liam pulled out his old favorite (the best one dollar I've ever spent at a homeschool convention: Best Short Poems). Between the two of them, they read poem after poem alternating for nearly 45 minutes. I waited for my turn to read "Winnie the Pooh," which never came. :)
After drowning in work all week, this was a welcome and much needed respite.

I have to admit that I hate banana, but if I just imagine that its, say, zucchini bread, then it looks fantastic!
ahhh, that photo says "summertime" all over it. Glad you got a little break.:-)
Susan
