...sitting on a water spout. Well, really, on the deck railing.
Our first January snow cheered me after days of unrelenting shadow-less grey. Proud of my little Nikon for the quality of its macros (not much of a lens, but it gets the job done).
I love that! I was noticing that color too--RIGHT behind the standout flakes for a delightful contrast. Truly a great macro--I have had three point and shoot digitals, and that has been where they seem to shine.
So beautiful Julie. I love the composition and that gorgeous snowflake!
On a side note, I had to show Bethany photos of snowflakes because she didn't know they actually had designs that you could see! One of the blessings of living in Ohio. :)
Oh, and what's so funny is that you focused on pops of color in the background, while I was trying to get muted tones in the background and color in the foreground!
I love the header on your blog, too. It is just too cool and perfect.

Amazing clarity on that little flake! I can smell the wet, metallic, coldness of it.
I really like just the hint of color in the blurred background.
Thank you, both. Laura, I'm tickled that you noticed the hint of color. I was deliberate about it and I'm so glad it worked!

Wonderful. I am so impressed that the color was deliberate! It really helps the snowflake stand out.
Very nicely composed. Excellent detail on those tiny little flakes. <3 that blurred background.

I think we were thinking along the same lines yesterday. I did a railing shot, too, but opted for the dried up bush with snow. I love macro and snow!
