Jacob broke his wrist and Liam broke his glasses. Yeah, they break stuff.
The cast says: "Jacob, You Do NOT Know How Ski!!"
I wanted to say to the writer: "You Do NOT Know How Write!" :)
Liam's left lens has now fallen out of two pairs of glasses in just a few weeks. We lost the first lens and this time, thank heavens, we found it. I looked at the pair on the counter and noticed Johannah's book: Everything is Illuminated behind it and thought: Picture of the Day! I did have to adjust the angle of the glasses to keep the window light to a minimum, but otherwise this is how it looked.

I love seeing the word "illuminated" through the frame with the lense laying underneath. That is just perfect. Doesn't this project make you see the most interesting things?
LOL, on the *typo* on Jacob's cast.
How funny! I love this shot!
nice cast :)
That's funny with the word "illuminated" behind the glasses. :) Yeah, boys do break things.
Pretty color for the cast!
And very appropos that the word "illuminated" is seen through the glasses frame. Nice.
So there goes my glasses shot! It's been hanging around in the back of my mind, but this one is just too perfect!!
Great shots! It still amazes me how many little things I see that used to go unnoticed or just a passing thought that now are being seen and shared!
I've been wondering how Jacob was doing. Will he have to have anything beside the cast or will they have to wait until it comes off to know? I noticed the mistake on the cast and then laughed at what you said. I love how the second picture turned out - really neat arrangement.
Insightful photos and comments! I like the close ups.

Love the Illuminated shot...your eye is really improving, don't you think? Yesterday, catching the girl in the midst of thought; today noticing the irony of "Everything is Illuminated" in the missing lens...You go girl!
Actually, I think the girl was in the middle of rolling her eyes at Mrs. B, wishing she'd get that nosy lens out of her face so she could write her paper! :P
PS What setting did you use on your camera to get the shallow depth of field. I still haven't figured out the trick to that on mine.
Sandy, Jacob gets it off on the 9th of Feb. Only three weeks. Not a serious break fortunately. He's going skiing today already!
Beth, thanks for your affirmation. I do feel like my eye is improving. It's the ability to take multiple shots at multiple settings all at once and then seeing them right away that is helping.
I used the "close up" setting on my camera. I did have to move the glasses to get the word "illuminate" to be readable because my camera couldn't decide between the book or the glasses. So I finally got just the right distane between them, used the close up setting and then adujsted the telephoto until I had crisp glasses and readable words.
I did take about eight shots. :)

P.S. My students didn't even notice me taking their pictures. No one flinched and not a soul asked me why I was taking them. They jut finished their essays and shuffled out. :) Cracked me up. They are a very quiet submissive bunch compared with my raucous jokers I had last year! :)
Great pictures!
