Through the reading glass...

Abstract, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

Jon sat across from me remembering college days and my eye kept wandering to the reflection on my reading glasses. Finally, I hopped up to grab the camera. (The burgandy frames "pop" in the original and appear a bit washed out here. Sigh.)

Bonhoeffer breakthrough

Bonhoeffer, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

Monday: No paper written. No paper started. I had lots of notes, lots of articles, lots of outlines, lots of concern... April 1 deadline loomed.

Tuesday: No writing. Driving children in every direction times two.

Wednesday: Reading for class. No writing. Suffering the agon of medieval theology.

Thursday: I met with my advisor. I hoped for good news.

He delivered. He had read the paper I wrote on Bonhoeffer three years ago and loved it! He told me to drop the comparison to James Cone and stick with DB. That means I only need to extend the 22 page paper to 30 (which I'm working on now). Went home that night with 28 and a half pages completed.

Friday: Spent the morning tweaking the paper to suit the expanded thesis. Feels really good and I will easily be done by Monday (April 1 deadline rolled over to Monday). Phew! May 19 is starting to appear around the corner.

Apothe-esis

Wherein Margaret and I hope to be transfigured into thesis writing theologues destined for the right hand of MA heaven....

(We spent the day back to back writing and writing and writing.... and looked like this by the end.)

Caitrin reads aloud

Caitrin reads aloud, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

...which continues to be remarkable. She read late (age 9) and is 10 now. She completed her first novel last week (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) and moved right into Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. (She's not a fan of the second book... I've read them all aloud so she knows the stories well.)

Jacob, resident HP expert in the family, asked her to read to him. She uses a British accent. That's Rocky relaxing in the background.

Edited to add: The seventh book's cover was unveiled today!! Check out my other blog for cover illustrations.

Rising up to greet me

Daffodils all bloomed while I was away. (I like the little fly on the petal...)

Good-bye Edisto Beach

Nasturtium, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

It seemed fitting to say good-bye with naturally occurring lime green.

365 gone to the birds

365 gone to the birds, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

We rode bikes and found these wonderful bird houses all hanging together outside someone's home. Couldn't resist this one for the 365 blog.

Tonight's dinner looked out on this harbor. Yeah, these are the real colors.
