Rose Parade, here we come!

Sousaphones, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

Jacob's marching band from Lakota West High School has been invited to the 2008 Rose Parade in Pasadena CA. They're marching every day and he goes to band camp tomorrow for a week. It's a huge honor to be invited and a first for this state champ marching band. For us (the Bogarts), it has special meaning. Johannah was born in Pasadena and Jon and I lived there when we first met. I've been to numerous Rose Parades.

What will make this year even better is if UCLA goes on the run it's supposed to this fall, beating SC at the end of the season, and landing itself in the Rose Bowl!! Come on Bruins!!

I love this photo because of the way the red track reflects in the tuba horns. To see Jacob's sax section, you can click on his name at the top.

Company

Company, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

Last night was the first meeting for "She Who Is" (a discussion of feminist theology for a new church called Nexus). I enjoyed putting together my little coffee set up. It's been a long time since a group for any reason met in my home.

Strawberry

Strawberry, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

I'm behind on my photo days. Life is a blur currently. Tomorrow, Jon goes out of town for a week taking the camera with him so my photography will have to be "really" creative (as in, cell phone photos....).

Clutter I'll miss

Clutter treasure, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

This is a photo on the floor of Johannah's bedroom. She's currently making paper cranes from old magazines (in between Sudokus). I went into her room to get one of the cranes to photogragh. Then I noticed the clutter on the floor that reminded me so much of her presence and her personality and thought, "Why not take the picture here, where the cranes are already strewn across the floor?" (I like the blue shoe, too.)
