234: Cincinnati is the Most Social City!

We were named "Most Social City" by Mashable.

National Social Media Day: we celebrated in the usual location—the Rookwood Pub.

Updated to add: Sandlot Pictures put together a video presentation of what we're all about and I'm in it. :^)

228: Swag

This is the Syracuse Vineyard gang that happily adopted Liam (red head with orange striped shirt). All week Liam signed the white t-shirts kids wore with the word "swag" and by week's end it became the meme for the whole camp of teens. Caitrin is also on this bus (in the first window). Liam got them chanting, "Liam's mom is pretty." I was putty in their hands after that.

227: SOS Besties

I didn't take this photo but it represents what was going on in our family this week. Caitrin (left) and her best friend, Sarah (right), were at the Vineyard's Summer of Service where over 1000 teens come together to do random acts of kindness in Cincinnati. I think they are also into random acts of silly, too.

226: Nada's

I went out on the town by myself. This is Nada's famous grapefruit margarita. Yes, I had two.

225: Lines

I don't know why I like this photo exactly, but I do. This is the major train track I navigate most days.

224: Happy Father's Day

I was on a memory trip lane this week! This is my dad with me (I was about 5 months). Isn't my dad so cute?

223: Janine!

Blogger friend WritingasJo(e) visited me! We had a lovely vegan dinner on our deck just for her. She's every bit as wonderful in person as online, only oodles more animated! We had the best time. She's my sister from another mister for sure.

222: Noah's birthday

I didn't get to be with Noah on his birthday so I wanted to use an old photo of him from when he was a baby to remember his by. 24 years old! This is my grandmother, Eva, my Mom, Karen and me.

221: Caitrin yet again

The photo blog can't go too many days without a great shot of Caitrin. Love this one. We're at Streets of West Chester.

218: Loaded Questions

Funniest game. Noah, Amanda, Johannah, Liam, Caitrin and I played it outdoors after a fun dinner.

216: Happy Graduation Johannah!

The top photo is my favorite of the day, and the bottom is a symbol of a lot of joy and healing. Happiest of days for my whole family.

Morgan and Johannah (love)

The whole fam, aka "the pod" (a new last name that prefers neither Bogart nor Sweeney ).

215: Put the lime in the vodka

and check your iPad. New Media Cincinnati on the Second Saturday at The Pub! Felt great to be in the outdoor porch and feel warm for a change. (P.S. I love that I held out for this shot—waiting for the server in the red mini skirt to come into my view finder - that red-green contrast ftw!)

214: Teatime Picnic

Caitrin and her friend Laura discuss literature and sip tea throughout the summer.

211: Composition

I'm not a huge fan of this self-portrait in terms of how I look. But I love the composition of the shot. The dots in the triangle, with the blue fade, the green, my house in the mirror, the white space below... I just liked it.

210: Cat-kitsch

The amazing "cat vest" lovingly handed down to Caitrin from her cat-loving voice teacher.

209: The Wreckage

The unrelenting rains and winds and tornado warnings have wreaked havoc on my decorative window shutters.

206: Game 1

Miami over Dallas in Game One. LeBron's fabulous dunk in the 4th qtr.

205: Liam interprets Popping Sequins

Liam raced outside before Caitrin for her daily photo shoot and gave me one of his own. :^)

203: Hanover Winery

This little gem of a vineyard is located less than 25 minutes from my home. The vinter is a local Cincinnati hospital administrator who took up wine-making as a hobby 13 years ago. In the summers, they host musical groups and invite locals (like my friends and me!) to come sip wine and listen. Wine tasting (six varieties) only $5.00 and you get to keep the wine glass! We brought our own food (below). The women at this table are my two friends.

202: Noah

Noah came out to visit and we had such a great time talking about postmodernism, linguistics and religion.

201: May downpours

We had 24 of 27 days of rain in April/May. View from inside my dry-ish garage. (I love the way the red contrasts with the green.)

200: Tornado Warning 2

The night of Caitrin's choir concert, a storm chased me all the way to the school. The tornado sirens went off as we entered the building. This photo is of the sky right as I walked from my car to the front door. I think it's spectacular!

199: Caught in a web of light

I'm struck by the contrast in a 24 hour period (yesterday's photo was taken exactly 24 hours before this one).

Monday, May 23, 2011

198: Tornado Warning

I probably shouldn't have been driving home, but my kids were there in the basement and I was 45 minutes away and just couldn't bear to wait it out. Intense, right? It was 7:30 p.m.

197: Sophia Service

At the end of the translation time, we got to have Laura celebrate the Eucharist with us in her lavendar chapel. What an experience!
