60: Flying Pig (marathon) Training Starts!

And we're off! Week one of training started yesterday. The Cincinnati marathon is called the "Flying Pig" for reasons I still need to discover. Ran our customary 6-7 miles.

The little "flying pig" below is from beadedhope.org given to me by Joules Evans, breast cancer survivor and marathon running supporter! This particular organization supports women in South Africa who have been been impacted by HIV/AIDS.

Wow! What a fun shot--love the way the pink "pops" against the dark background! Even better with the story.

I wonder if it's related to the saying, "I'll never do (something) until pigs fly?" This cheery pink makes me think maybe even I could run a marathon? NAH...

I'm pretty sure you're right. But also, Cincinnati is "pig HQ" because of all the German immigrants. We have these pigs all over the city decorated (painted) the way Chicago has cows. So it's probably some combination of the expression and the pig-passion of the city. (Pork is a big deal here, in other words.)
