63: Low Tech Solutions of the BMV

I've been coming to this Bureau of Motor Vehicles for nearly 12 years and they are still using the same laminated handwritten yellow "take-a-numbers" from a century ago. I particularly like the important highlighted reminder (on January 8) that the BMV will be closed on December 24th and 25th. Gotta plan ahead! And "good thing" there's a paper clip on the license-plate-style-admonition to take a seat!?

Funny aside: I got my new license with my old new last name. Sure enough, best photo on a driver's license ever for me. And then I noticed that I signed the card "JBogart." Ugh! They had to take another photo for another license! Phew, photo is fine, and I intended to post my new identity here... but went to a "privacy on the Internet" meeting last night and realized you should NEVER post your PHOTO ID with all your private information ON THE INTERNETS! Hence, you get the low tech photo instead. :)

That's too funny! (the pic, not the having to redo your license)

I love Caitrin's blog, btw.

Thank you! So glad you read her blog. Where did you find it? She's weirdly private and public about it. I love taking the photos. We wind up taking 8-10 a day and then she picks them based on facial expression. Ha! Her wardrobe is a trip!

She commented on Jeff's blog last night, so I figured it had to be your Caitrin and clicked through. Hopefully, she won't mind that I stopped by.

Of course, when I commented to her blog, I accidentally used my other google account, so she won't be able to find my blog, if she wants to.

Oh ha ha. That was ME commenting but I didn't see that I had used her ID. She probably uploaded her photo right before I did that. So happy you can see her blog though! She told me today that she doesn't mind, as long as people "don't post lame comments." Ha ha. Such a teenager. I told her all about you in vivid complimentary detail. :D

That sign is so "BMV" (or "DMV" as we call it here). "Take a number" (there are plenty ahead of you) and "Have a seat" (it's going to be a while). However, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I renewed my license in Nov. ~ 15 minutes total. Of course, it took a mountain of paperwork but at least I didn't have to wait.

LOVE this! Laminating is high tech, though, right?

Tracy, lamination is so last century. The Social Security office used a computer screen where you identified your reason for coming and they printed out your number and then announced the window you would go to via TV screen! Lamination... ah, so adorably home-did.
