156: Not as endearing as they appear here

You pay all this money to the "Team Green Lawn" and expect that their bi-weekly treatments would actually yield a "green lawn." The fine print must have stated "including delightful dandelions in bloom for your 365 blog."

Yes, I deliberately made sure the yellow fire hydrant showed in the frame.

The hydrant makes a nice accent. :)

It takes a while to get rid of all the weeds (and here in Fl., there are some you never get rid of). Which is exactly why we stopped our service (they only sprayed - my husband does the mowing). Frustration aside, I happen to like the little spots of yellow. And just think, in a few days you'll have wispy dandelion heads to photograph.

Love the angle! Fun shot.

Nice shot! Perhaps the green lawn people meant that they use eco-friendly maintenance methods: which means that they are less effective at ridding the lawn of weeds, although much better for the environment. Many pamphlets about going green here seem to include advice about learning to love "wild flowers" (including dandelions), and encourage folks to fill their properties with something other than grass (which is, admittedly, maintenance-, and usually chemical-, intensive.

I love the yellow fire hydrant, and no matter that they are weeds, dandelions are some of my favorite flowers. They don't come much more cheerful or resiliant!
