Hot Cross Buns

Hot Cross Buns, originally uploaded by juliecinci.

Though hot cross buns are a British tradition on Good Friday, we've always eaten them on Easter morning.

I'm officially jealous. I completely bombed on food this Easter. I tried to make hot cross buns Friday, but as is common for me, the bread didn't rise. Then I tried to make our traditional grasshopper pie and it melted (it's a frozen pie). Then I left the rice i'd made (with fresh bella, shiitake, and some other funky kind of mushroom, and Irish herbed butter...so yummy) at home when we were taking the meal to my moms. And my cheese pastries...I couldn't find a cutter for them, so they were patted out by hand, and ugly.
All that to say....your buns look perfect and I wish you'd come cook my Easter dinner next time!
